GM Lansing Stamping Plant

In early November, Motor City Electric Co. won a $9.9 million contract for the body shop tooling expansion at the General Motors Lansing Delta Township assembly plant. Commercial Contracting Corporation selected MCE to install new body shop tooling electrical components, perform kit work on existing installations, and install power feeds and miscellaneous lighting.

The main work on the project is slated to begin in December and will run through April 2017. The project will utilize 20-50 workers from IBEW Local 665 and includes phased significant shutdown periods.

In 2006, the Lansing Delta Township facility was GM’s newest plant in North America and the first manufacturing facility to be a Gold Certified Leader in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The assembly plant shares a 1,100-acre site with the Lansing Regional Stamping plant, and the combined facilities cover 3.4 million square feet. Vehicles built here include the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave crossovers.
