Overview

Motor City Electric Utilities (MCEU) partnered with ITC/METC to play a significant role in the construction of the brand new 138kV Callahan Switchyard located in Albion, MI. The project began construction in January 2024 and was completed in October of the same year, meeting all deadlines and key dates.

Key Components:

  • Switchyard Equipment: The Callahan Switchyard consisted of:
    • 1 H-Frame
    • 2 Power Voltage Transformers
    • 9 Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformers
    • 8 138kV Disconnect Switches
    • 3 138kV Circuit Breakers
  • Electrical Control House: The project included a complete electrical control house with relay panels, communication, security, and battery system.
  • Testing and Commissioning: MCEU crews supported ITC/METC with their testing and commissioning efforts.

The project was built and installed to the customer’s requirements and will be distributing power to the area for many years to come.
