The Macomb County Department of Public Works is undertaking major renovations to the Chapaton Pump Station and retention basin to minimize the amount of combined sewer overflow that discharges into Lake St. Clair. Rotor Electric is instrumental in three of these projects. At the retention basin, our work includes replacing all of the discharge gates and constructing a new control building that will house all of the power and control systems for the gate structures and the new inflatable weir structure.
At the main pump station, Rotor Electric is replacing all of the main electrical equipment, which we originally installed fifty-seven years ago. This includes new outdoor switchgear that will provide future feeds to an entirely new Nine Mile Pump Station, new connections to backup generators, and all new indoor switchgear and starters for three 2,750 horsepower lift pumps. All of this is being done while the station remains fully operational.
Finally, we are rehabilitating all of the gate structures around the facility with new actuators and controls. The control systems were designed by MCE Technologies, who will also provide the new control panels that Rotor will install. This is yet another example of the collaboration between our sister companies to provide turnkey solutions for our customers.
