Payroll Processor

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Payroll Processor to run the payroll processes for employees and ensure all payments are accurate and on time. Payroll Processor responsibilities include reviewing payroll data and documents for errors, checking whether all amounts are accurate based on hours worked and ensuring payments are made on time (both to employees and various taxing agencies and unions). To be successful in this role, you should have excellent analytical skills with the ability to spot numerical errors. Ultimately, you will help us maintain an efficient payroll process that complies with all federal and state regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review timesheets and correct inaccuracies in rates, charge accounts, etc.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork for tax deductions, benefits and garnishments
  • Process benefit costs and payments for various unions
  • Report to management on payroll issues and changes
  • Answer employees’ questions about salaries and tax and benefits
  • Implement laws and governmental regulations, collective bargaining agreements, policies/procedures, and administrative regulations as they apply to payroll matters as a assigned
  • Create, compile and update payroll data and spreadsheets.
  • Print, review and reconcile a variety of computer-generated payroll reports.
  • Respond to/resolve questions regarding pay, timesheets, benefits, retirement, and other payroll related issues.
  • Provide information to employees in any/all departments on procedures to ensure that required documents reach payroll in an accurate/timely manner.
  • Process Weekly and Biweekly non-exempt payrolls for union and employees
  • Keep informed of regulations, interpretations and practices pertaining to the payroll accounting function and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Follow policies and procedures and/or recommend new or revised procedures for improving the overall payroll department
  • Process pay employee data (new hires, pay changes, employee changes)
  • Process accurately employee pay for items including special payments and retro payments
  • Responsible for processing wage garnishments, liens, in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Maintains employees’ confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested
