Joe Piliszko and Marc Herceg of MCE subsidiary, Huron Valley Electric, received a Heart of Walbridge Award from general contractor Walbridge on October 9, 2019.

The two were working at a project site at the University of Michigan when they saw a news article about an electrician who was injured on a construction site on I-75. Daniel Clark, Jr., 42, of Westland, suffered serious internal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while working at a construction site on Long Lake Road at the I-75 overpass in Troy last April.

Although Joe and Marc did not know Dan, they did not hesitate to work with their brothers in IBEW Local 252 to raise money for his rehabilitation through 50/50 raffles and cash donations. It was only later that they learned that Dan had been previously employed by HVE sister company, Motor City Electric Utilities, and had only been working for his new employer for three days when the accident occurred.

Dan’s father posted a thank you on the GoFundMe page started for Dan:

I personally want to thank Marc Herceg, who organized a fundraiser for Daniel Jr. last week at the campus of the University of Michigan. All of you that attended that fundraiser have shown sincerely how much a fellow union brother can be supported in a time of need. Together they have raised an amazing gift and have donated $2,715.00 for Daniel Jr. Thank you all.

Sincerely,

Daniel Clark, Sr.
