Joe Piliszko and Marc Herceg of Motor City Electric Co., subsidiary, Huron Valley Electric, received a Heart of Walbridge Award for their efforts in bringing awareness and assistance to a fellow community member. Electrical worker Daniel Clark, Jr., 42, of Westland, suffered serious internal injuries when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The accident took place while Daniel was working at a construction site in Troy on an I-75 overpass.

Joe and Marc did not know Dan personally but they had felt affected by his story. They decided to collaborate with their brothers in the IBEW Local 252. In doing so they were able to raise money for Dans’ rehabilitation.  Later Joe and Marc learned that Dan had been a previous employee of an HVE sister company. Dan had only been working for his new employer for three days when the accident occurred. We are incredibly proud of our Affiliate members who show such compassion to members of this community.

Dan’s father posted a thank you on the GoFundMe page that was started for Dan:

“I … want to thank Marc Herceg, who organized a fundraiser for Daniel Jr. last week at the campus of the University of Michigan. All of you that attended that fundraiser have shown sincerely how much a fellow union brother can be supported in a time of need. Together they have raised an amazing gift and have donated $2,715.00 for Daniel Jr. Thank you all.”

Sincerely,

Daniel Clark, Sr.

Congratulations to Joe Piliszko and Marc Herceg on receiving the Heart of Walbridge Award, and thank you for helping bring awareness to a community member’s need for unity.
