Mid South Contractors ULC, a subsidiary of Motor City Electric Co., is a union electrical contractor that conducts business throughout Southwestern Ontario with a home office in Windsor, Ontario and a satellite base in Sarnia, Ontario. Mid South Contractors ULC is a member of the Windsor Electrical Contractors Association, the Sarnia Electrical Contractors Association and the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario.
Founded in 1991, as Mid South Electrical Ltd., the company’s initial focus was automotive equipment and conveyor installations, along with electrical service work. In 1995 the name was modified to Mid South Contractors ULC when it became a subsidiary of Detroit, Michigan based electrical contractor Motor City Electric Co.
Throughout the late 1990s and into the early 2000s the company continued to conduct a great deal of automotive related work throughout Southwestern Ontario, but began to diversify with contracts in the educational, hotel & casino, and industrial fields. It was during this period that Mid South Contractors ULC went from a relatively small electrical contractor into one of the largest electrical contractors in the region.
In the last five years, Mid South Contractors ULC has seen even more growth with the completion of several large projects including the Caesars Windsor Expansion Project (including a 27 storey hotel and 5,000 seat entertainment & convention centre) and launches of the Chrysler Minivan in Windsor, Ontario, the Chrysler 300 & Dodge Charger in Bramalea, Ontario, the Ford Edge in Oakville, Ontario and the Toyota RAV4 in Woodstock, Ontario.
At the same time, Mid South Contractors ULC continued to diversify by completing several educational facilities, a waste water treatment plant and numerous commercial and fire alarm upgrade/installation projects.
At present, the company continues to look to grow and diversify by entering the green energy market with several local wind mill and solar farm projects, which will make the company even stronger in the years to come.
